What Do Your Kids Want For Halloween

What do your kids want to be this Halloween? Super hero? Hannah Montana? Or Harry Potter? It’s really nice if you can make costumes for your children, but we are so busy so it’s more practical to buy one for them. Fortunately (or in some sense, unfortunately), there are many places that you can order / buy a Halloween costumes these days. However, you may not always be able to find what your kids want; so here are some tips to make it easier.
1. Ask your kids what they want to be soon so that you can buy or order early. Don’t wait till the end of Oct. Buy as early as you can. Vendors need to order fixed quantities of costumes from China early in the year, and if they run out, you cannot get them till the next season.
2. Find a local Halloween Store, and go there early. Go to a specialist, not a toy store, not a drug store. The Halloween costume specialist has 100 times more than a normal toy store. Another advantage of the local specialty stores are that you can actually try it on before buying. This, however, is not the case if you wait too long. A few days before Halloween, most places won’t let you try, since they are far too busy.
3. If you cannot find one locally go online. There are many, many online costume stores, and all of them push Halloween costumes during this season. Although most of them have “everything”, some online stores are specialized for a smaller field.
4. Since most stores carry the same costumes from the same manufacturers, things you need to pay attention to are the shipping cost, shipping time, shipping method, and more importantly return policy. If they do not mention anything about the return policy, don’t buy from them. Most reputable stores do have a return policy, and usually give you about 30 days to return.
OK, here I give you an example using Harry Potter costumes. My son wants to be Harry Potter. I thought it would fun for me to be an adult Harry Potter to go tick or treat with my son. To be Harry Potter, you need an pair of eye glasses, a wand, and probably a Gryffindor robe.
First, we tried at a local super toy store. They have a wand and an pair of eyeglasses, but no robes. So we went to a Halloween costume store. Wow, they have tons of things. We bought the eyeglasses, the wand, and a robe for my son. He tried them and fit perfectly; he was happy, but they did not have anything for me.
So, I got home and typed “buy Adult Harry Potter costumes” on Google. Wow, there are more than 100,000 entries! I could choose a Google ad store, but I decided to check out a few highly ranked online stores. Some of them are full blown costume stores, and some of them are specialized for Harry Potter costumes.
Before ordering even one thing, make sure to read the shipping information, and return policy. The shipping is reasonable, but some stores have a flat rate, and with some, if you order more it gets cheaper. Then I read the return policy. Yes, this store had a 30 day return policy.
While I was checking out the adult Harry Potter costumes, I also found Gryffindor ties, caps and scarves, and even a fake lightening bolt tattoo! Yes, I spent more than I was planning on, but I am ready for the trick or treat, and even for my company Halloween party!
Now, you’ve got the picture. I recommend going to a specialty shop first (skip toy stores), but you also should check on line. In either case, you should do it early; once the costumes are gone, you won’t get them this season for sure!
