How to Make Halloween Party Invitations That Are Spook-Tastic!

So you have a Halloween party planned from the decorations to food and, of course, the all important Halloween costume. But an essential part of any Halloween party is the guests. Invitations are what you need but how do you make Halloween party invitations? There are many Halloween party invitations available to buy but for a totally unique party it is more fun to make you own.

There are two ways to make your own invitations. The first would be to create invites from card and embellishments the other would be to create them using your computer. Or if you’re feeling really creative, you could use both methods together!

For handmade Halloween invitations, you need to start off with some black or orange card. These are traditional Halloween colors along with blood red and ghost white. Cut the card to size and fold if necessary, this would be done if you want a picture on the outside of the card and the party details on the inside.

You can know decorate the card with computer printouts such as clip art or wording or Halloween embellishments such as pumpkins, witches, ghosts etc. with some spooky Halloween lettering.

Let your imagination run riot. You can look at invitations in shops or Halloween images on the Internet for ideas.

The same goes if you are creating your invitation on a word processing or publishing program. However to save printer ink you may not want a solid color background. It may be more cost effective to have a Halloween border around the page and then a larger picture in the center with the party details underneath. I usually make my Halloween invitations A5 size so that I can fit two on a single sheet of paper side by side.

Most people find it easy to make their invites look super scary but then get stuck on the wording. So how do you create Halloween invitation wording?

The simple option is to just write the party details – date, time, location etc, on the invite. But a nice touch is to create a spooky verse which will give everyone an idea of what is to come at the party.

Here are two examples. This first example is for a Halloween party idea for kids:

“BOO, (guests name)!

Calling all witches, ghouls and ghosts on the eve of Halloween when the moon is full, at precisely (time of party) there will be a celebration of spooktastic proportions at the haunted house of (hosts name and address).

Trick or Treat? RSVP to (name and number)”

Whilst this second example is for a Halloween party for teenagers or adults:

“On the Eve of Halloween, the night of the full moon, will you, (guests’ name), be victim to the slayer that is prowling (name of town).

The only sanctuary is in (address of party) at the house of (teenagers name). But this house is reported to be haunted by ghouls and other Halloween creatures at this time of year.

So enter with care as this place of refuge is not for the faint hearted but is better than being caught by the Halloween slayer so make sure you are there by (time of party)!”

Once you have happy, or scared of, your invite it is time to mail them. Just remember to keep a list of everyone you give invitations to so that you can tick them off when they R.S.P.V. then you will a good idea of the amount of guests that will turn up for your Halloween party.
