Parents looking for kids Halloween party ideas have a wonderful opportunity to be creative with their kids. Here are some kids Halloween party ideas that will make your party a scary blast from beginning to end.
- Before your kids Halloween party begins, set the tone with an invitation they must not refuse. Make your own paper invitations with words cut out from magazines. Photocopy the words, and then cut them out and paste on pieces of construction paper. Word it like a ransom note, or a blackmail letter.
- Try decorating both your house and yard for your party. Cheesecloth hung from the trees in a dark corner of your yard makes a great ghostly effect. Save up your cereal boxes to be painted like tombstones, and prop them up in your front yard cemetery. Don’t forget the jack-o-lanterns. Those flickering lights add a lot of ambience, but for a safer lantern, use a flashlight instead of a candle. Have your child help in making gallon milk jug lanterns by cutting them as jack-o-lanterns, and painting them orange.
- Indoors, you can create your own haunted house by hanging long pieces of decorated butcher paper. First paint your own scary, grisly, or fun scene, and then hang the paper from the ceiling.
- A little food coloring and a gory name can go a long way. Try coloring vanilla pudding with strawberry jam, or red food coloring. Call it blood, and the kids will eat it up. A common trick is to freeze gummy worms into ice cube trays. Put them into the kids’ drinks, or have them floating in the punch bowl.
