Spooky Halloween Sounds

Scary Halloween sounds enhance the ambiance of any Halloween event. These sounds can be divided into two categories; sound effects, and music. Whether they are played at a party, or a dark haunted house, scary Halloween sounds make October nights more fun.
The best scary sounds to use at Halloween parties are songs and creepy music. Fun songs like Monster Mash and Thriller are popular, and many people recognize them. Another idea is to play themes from movies like, It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, Ghost Busters, etc. If you desire something more frightening, play movie soundtracks from Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, and the Exorcist, or save these for haunted houses, where they can be very effective.
Spooky sound effects heighten the thrill of a haunted house, and a sound played at just the right moment can have a frightening effect. Step into a house where the sound of an erie calliope or organ plays, and it is immediately known that there are mischievous gags and pranks to come. Sounds like wind, slow footsteps, creaking stairs, screams, or howling werewolves help to build suspense.
Encourage children to sing Halloween songs while they carve pumpkins, or work on other Halloween crafts. Have them to pick a popular song like, "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star", and then to make up their own words.
Look for scary sounds at Halloween specialty stores, party stores, and novelty shops. The internet is also a great place to look for spooky sounds. Many websites have free public domain sound files available for download. Just plug what you seek into your favorite search engine.
