With all of the preparation and energy that goes into the holiday of Halloween, it seems a shame that the actual holiday is no more than one day. However, with parades and parties and a vast array of decorations, the spirit of Halloween can extend far beyond those twenty-four hours.
Children delight in Halloween decorating and what could be more fun than making your own decorations? Craft ideas for Halloween, and free and easy suggestions, make creative crafts a pleasure. With many books and magazines dedicated to this theme, ideas are easy to come by. From the simplest to the most complex, there are craft ideas for Halloween both free and costly, easy and complex, and always guaranteed fun.
Even the youngest children can participate in Halloween crafts. For example, the lollipop ghost is a traditional favorite among parents and pre-school teachers. Just take a lollipop such as a dum-dum or a tootsie pop. Cover it with a white tissue and use a string or rubber band to secure it around the bulge. With two little dark dots (or more detailed eyes if you prefer), you have a ready-made ghost pop!
Another easy favorite is the egg carton spider. Simply cut up an egg carton so that each section is separated. Each section can then be transformed into an individual spider. Paint the pieces black and with the aid of a paperclip, punch four holes on each side. Insert black pipe cleaners for legs and your spider is created. You can add ready made craft eyes or paint your own using glow in the dark paint.
There are so many possibilities when it comes to Halloween crafts. It’s a wonderful opportunity to spend quality time with your children and enjoy the satisfaction of making your own decorations.
