Why Princess Leia Slave Costume For the Star Wars Freedom Fighter

Why would a woman want to be Princess Leia of Star Wars fame? Is it because of Carrie Fisher’s feisty, clean image, her character, integrity, and determination that we are drawn? Or the allure of the truly sexy metal bikini she was forced to wear when captured by the repulsive Jabba The Hutt in Return of the Jedi?
Either way, Princess Leia costumes abound for Halloween costume parties… pet and human costumes, toddler sizes through adult, and even the sexy Princess Leia Slave Halloween costume. It’s one of the most popular costumes for women today — over twenty years after we were first introduced to Star Wars!
Sure the attraction of Princess Leia costumes arises from the excitement of her galactic adventures and Spielberg’s phenomenal movie special effects. Sure much of the appeal comes from the idea of looking pretty, like a young Carrie Fisher. But I believe more of the draw comes from the dignity and grace of Princess Leia that morphed into the clever, blaster-toting, totally committed Freedom Fighter. This is someone to emulate, if only for a night!
But who is Princess Leia Organa really? She was born as Princess Leia Amidala Skywalker, daughter of Padme and Anakin Skywalker. But when her father turned to the Dark Side of the Force and tried to kill her mother, she was adopted as the daughter of Bail Organa, Viceroy and First Chairman of planet Alderaan, hero of the Clone Wars.
Her history was hidden from her, even knowing about her twin brother, Luke Skywalker. She wasn’t told that her mother was Queen of Naboo, also a Galactic Senator. Raised in a politically charged environment, Leia developed keen insights and authoritative bearing, as she became the youngest Senator in Galactic history. But Leia had difficult decisions to make when she watched the evil growing in her world — as Palpatine usurped more and more authority and declared himself Emperor, committing ever more atrocities in the name of “peace” for the galaxy. There was no peace…
It reminds us of the biblical verse, “They cry ‘Peace, peace!’ when there is no peace.” It’s a narcissistic sycophant’s vicious excuse to dominate and control the lives of the masses. Over centuries we’ve seen atrocities committed in the name of “peace” or “humanity,” as even Stalin and Hitler used that ruse, seeking world domination. It was no different in Leia’s galaxy. Human nature is the same everywhere.
Leia had no choice when she searched her heart. She joined the Rebel Alliance as a Freedom Fighter and embarked upon many perilous journeys throughout the Galaxy, … exciting, dangerous adventures that thrill audiences… daring, selfless actions that earn deep respect… drawing us ever closer to her character.
And so Leia endears herself to us, as we identify with her commitment to freedom from the oppression of a dark, dark Galactic Empire… the commitment that took her to Jabba The Hutt’s “lair” to free her amour, the smuggler Captain Han Solo. Ah, mission successful… until she, herself is captured and enslaved by the vile, corpulent Jabba. But doesn’t that add more intrigue? Especially when she is stunningly attractive in a gold metal bikini, with flowing skirt to add a soft feminine contrast to the hard, cold, masculine metal. (The movie’s costume director played with textures, imagery, psychological associations, and human emotions quite cleverly there.)
So on her way to a spectacular rescue by Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia strangles the vile Jabba. Then she swings on a rope with Luke onto the sail barge in an Erol Flynn sequence… all on their way to destroying the evil Empire’s Death Star. What an image for a woman’s adult costume!
And the ending? After another rebel mission to Endor to destroy the field generator protecting the Empire’s second Death Star, Princess Leia learns that Luke Skywalker is her brother. Later she marries Han Solo, has three children, and continues to work in the new Republic Senate — But not without continuing adventures throughout the Galaxy. So there’s a vision and a Princess Leia Star Wars Costume for young and old, demure and sexy — reflecting the many facets of any woman’s private life or dreams!
