I’ll Drink to That: Halloween Drinks

Halloween drinks can add so much to the party and they are very easy to make and serve.

There are a variety of Halloween drinks and ways to serve them.

Serve a green drink in a beaker for a Frankenstein theme. Freeze items into ice cubes. If you want the ice cubes to be clear, boil the water first. You can use plastic bugs, spiders, raisins or gummy worms. Another great ice cube idea is to freeze water in a plastic glove and float it in your punch bowl.

Pumpkin faces can be made from oranges. Just push whole cloves into the oranges to look like jack-o-lanterns and float them in the punch bowl. Use a large pumpkin as your punch bowl. Clean out the pumpkin and fill with your favorite punch.

There are many good Halloween drink recipes. Bat Brew is made with two 12 oz. cans of grape juice diluted with six cans of water. You then add a two liter bottle of ginger ale and five minutes before serving put a half gallon of lime sherbet into the mixture and stir.

Cat punch is a great recipe and easy to make. Mix one 8 oz. bottle of lemon juice, one 12 oz can of orange juice diluted with three cans of water and three 64 oz. bottles of apple juice. Use four apples cut into slices for the garnish.

Another quick Halloween drink is Spooky Ghostly Milk. You can make this drink, by blending 1 gallons of milk with eight bananas. Mix in the blender until slightly chunky and garnish with banana slices.

With a little imagination you can serve some delicious Halloween drinks at your next Halloween get-together.

Halloween desserts are yummy and lots of fun to make. If you are asked to bring a Halloween sweet treat for a party or gathering you have lots of choices.

You may want to make the dessert yourself. Halloween desserts are easy to make and there are suggestions in many places. You can find recipes for Halloween desserts online, in Halloween cookbooks and in magazines.

Let’s say you want to make cupcakes. You can decorate them to look like witches hats, ghosts and pumpkins. If you’d rather make a cake you can frost and decorate it to resemble a black cat, coffin or haunted house.

Maybe you would rather make candy-filled witches’ hats or popcorn ghosts. You can decorate cookies to look like spiders, bugs or skulls.
If you are using a witches theme you may also want to try witch ice cream which is green ice cream served in a dish with a chocolate ice cream cone for her hat. Then you decorate the ice cream with black licorice strings for her hair and add m and m’s for her eyes. Finish this witchy dessert by adding a candy corn nose and a red string licorice mouth.

A great spider-themed dessert is the Oreo spider. You just open up an Oreo and place 4 black licorice strings across the cream filling. Put the cookie back together. On top of the Oreo put two small spots of frosting and add a cinnamon Red Hot on each dab of frosting for the spider’s eyes.

If you are running short of time you can always purchase a Halloween dessert. Your local grocery store or bakery will have many choices for Halloween treats.

You can have a yummy Halloween dessert whether you make it yourself or buy it.

Best Halloween Cakes and Spooky Dessert Ideas

The perfect ending to a perfect night of ghosts and goblins and trick or treating, has to be a spooky dessert. Halloween cakes are always a fun way to finish a night of intrigue. From the simplest to the more complex recipes, there is a Halloween cake out there for all of us!

The easiest Halloween cake is the pumpkin cake. Simply ice your cake with orange frosting and decorate by making any expressive pumpkin face. You can use candy corn or broken pieces of chocolate to decorate. Some people simply prefer to use a chocolate frosting cake writer to draw the face.

Another fun cake that is quite popular among children is the worms and dirt cake. Simply scoop out a small portion of the very center of your cake. Fill it with crushed chocolate cookies (to resemble dirt) and gummy worms. Let some of the worms ‘crawl’ out of the hole and rest on the top of the cake. This can be quite dramatic when it is decorated carefully.

Another effective and easy decoration for a Halloween cake is gross colored frosting. A little bit of food coloring goes a long way, and green frosting can be especially spooky. Throw a few gummy spiders on top and you have a revolting masterpiece. Or just use black and orange frosting and swirl or stripe your cake.

These are just a few ideas to get you started on those Halloween cakes. And remember, when all else fails, those trick-or-treat bags aren’t half bad!

Spooky Halloween Cupcakes

There are many ways you can decorate Halloween cupcakes. We will describe two spooky Halloween cupcakes you can make and decorate for the holiday.

The first spooky Halloween cupcake looks like a haunted house. You will need to mix up a brownie mix according to the package directions. Preheat the oven to 350 and place 10 waffle cone bowls on cookie sheets. Fill each bowl 2/3 full with the batter and bake for 25 minutes. Cool completely and frost with a container of chocolate or caramel frosting. Break a graham cracker into 4 rectangles and press them into the center of each cupcake to make the walls of the haunted house. Break another rectangle in half and use frosting to hold it on to the top of the house as the roof. You can then use licorice, sprinkles, gumdrops and candy corn to decorate the house and surrounding area.

The second spooky Halloween cupcake looks like a ghost with hands reaching out. Bake cupcakes according to package directions and cool completely. Spread a little vanilla frosting on the top of the cupcake and then cut a large marshmallow in half, crosswise. Put one half on top of the cupcake and cover it with frosting. Roll a whole marshmallow until it is about 2 inches long and cut it in half. Place on either side of the cupcake for the hands. Finish frosting and add black jelly bean eyes and an orange jelly bean mouth.

Now you have spooky Halloween cupcakes to take to your next Halloween gathering!

Those Ghoulish Hors D’ouevres

No Halloween party would be complete without the Halloween appetizers to add that edible mystique to the evening. Though the prospect of Halloween appetizers may at first seem daunting to the host, with a little imagination it will seem as though the witches have landed in your kitchen.

If you have Halloween cookie cutters, you can make spooky chips. Just flatten out a tortilla, cut out the desired shapes, broil in a little oil, and sprinkle with the spices of your choice. Voila! You have spooky chips. Some people prefer the sweetened version, which can be accomplished by sprinkling with cinnamon and sugar.

Or perhaps you’d like to serve some eyeballs. Just use your favorite cheese ball recipe and roll little eyeball shaped balls. Then insert an olive in the center of each one to make the eye complete.

Chicken wings can be bat wings, any cream cheese dip with a little tomato juice can be bloody dip, and some candy bugs inside jello cubes make for all sorts of eerie and wiggly eating.

The Internet is a wonderful source for finding the Halloween appetizers of your nightmares! Even something as easy as Halloween themed toothpicks can add that festive flare to your snacks.

And if you run out of ideas, just remember that your every day appetizers become Halloween fright foods with a name change. Pigs ‘n blankets can be goblin toes; popcorn can be brain fragments, etc. Children, especially, will join in on the imaginative aspect and contribute with lots of ideas of their own.

Rather Disgusting Halloween Snacks

If your kids are at an age when they find gross things pretty cool, you may want to try one of these Halloween snacks. These rather disgusting Halloween snacks may delight your children and their friends.

Halloween snacks can easily fall into the disgusting category.

If you want to make a Halloween snack that looks a little like fried guts try this: Cook a package of vermicelli for five minutes. Drain and run the pasta under cold water so that it is very cool. Pour a teaspoon of oil over it and mix until the vermicelli is completely covered. Put this mixture on a paper towel. Heat three inches of oil in a saucepan until it is hot enough to fry your vermicelli. Place small portions of the vermicelli in the oil and fry for about two minutes, turning once. Carefully remove from the oil and drain on more paper towels. Sprinkle with curry powder and salt. Ta dah!! Guts!!

Another disgusting Halloween snack is the goblin mix. You take candy corn for the witch’s teeth, licorice pieces for bat droppings, pretzels for spider webs and gummy worms. Mix all of this together and place in small bags for school Halloween treats or for the little goblins that show up at your house on Halloween night. You can also use your imagination and make up other items to add to your Halloween snack mix.

It’s kind of revolting to fix disgusting Halloween snacks but it’s also a lot of fun.

It’s your turn to bring the eats to the Halloween gathering and you are told that the theme is anything creepy. What creepy Halloween party treats should you make?

Let’s think about a lovely three-course meal that just screams "creepy." These Halloween party treats will be creepy indeed!

We’ll start with the salad which will hopefully resemble a spider when we are done. You’ll need a peeled carrot, two raisins, a canned peach half per person and cherries. Place the peach half, rounded side up on a plate and use a vegetable peeler to make eight curls from the carrot to use as legs. Put the raisins on as eyes and cut the cherry into strips to use as the mouth.

Next is the sandwich which is designed to look like a caterpillar. For this slimy concoction you will need: C mayo, 2 tsp. parsley, 2 tsp. prepared mustard and tsp. onion powder. Mix all this together and spread on a loaf of Italian bread that you have sliced into 14 pieces. (Don’t cut all the way through and spread the mixture on every other piece of bread.) Take 7 slices of ham and 7 slices of cheese and insert into every slot that has the mayo mixture on it. Wrap the bread in foil and bake for 25 minutes.

Finally let’s make the grasshopper dessert. Over medium heat or in the microwave, melt a six ounce package of butterscotch chips. Stir in one cup of salted peanuts and three cups of chow mein noodles. Drop onto waxed paper with a teaspoon and let them cool. You will have 30 to 40 positively creepy grasshopper treats!

Creepy Halloween party treats are the best!

Halloween is a time for creativity and breaking out of that everyday conformity. As the sun sets, your persona can be as crazy or as tranquil as you choose. There is no judgment. There are few rules. And why not let your palate experience that same festivity? What could be more fun for the kids (and maybe some of us adults, too) than a gross Halloween recipe or two?

After all, Halloween isn’t only about what we wear and how we sparkle, or why would all these kids bother going door-to-door determinedly filling their bags? Halloween is definitely about what we put in our mouths, and a gross Halloween recipe can certainly spice up a party or a dinnertime meal! How about some gelatin eyeballs? Or why not serve a bowl of cottage cheese with just enough blueberry juice to turn the curds a sickly gray color? Then all you need is a little bit of blue gelatin and voila! Brains are served!

Depending on the ages of the children you are serving, a little tomato juice can be a ‘blood’ base and small edible insects (made especially for Halloween and available at most party stores) can be frozen into ice cubes for that extra chill. A plate of chicken wings transform to bat wings and some bean sprouts in your hamburgers can be worms. With a little imagination, just about any meal or dessert can evolve into a gross Halloween recipe that will add that extra thrill for anyone brave enough to taste it!

Food for Halloween parties should be yummy, fun, and spooky! Themed treats, snacks, and drinks add a special touch to any Halloween gathering. Don’t be afraid to get creative and wacky with your Halloween treats. Your guests will appreciate it!

Popular Halloween colors, like orange, purple, black, and green liven up food for Halloween parties. Some snacks will already consist of these colors; however, you can add food coloring to your recipes to give your snacks an eerie Halloween quality. Food coloring is found in the baking section of your local grocery store. Transform noodles into brains, pudding into slime, and cupcakes into bat cakes, with some simple color adjustments.

Lime jello and green punch take on an eerie glow with the right ambient lighting. Colored frostings give you an easy way to write chilling words on treats. Green cotton candy easily passes for dusty spider webs. Many normal snacks make great food for Halloween parties. Be creative and outrageous.

Non-spill food for Halloween parties is the way to go. Guests will be mingling, participating in energetic games, and having a lively, merry time. Avoiding the messy stuff will save party-goers’ costumes from ruin, and will save your carpet and furniture, also! Serve finger foods and treats like, finger jello, cookies, and candies. Snacks that can be easily managed on a party plate, like dips, crackers, cake, potatoes, and sandwiches, will keep things going smoothly.

Don’t forget to pick up festive plates, cups, and napkins to serve your spooky treats. Food for Halloween parties can be fun to make, and fun to eat!

Halloween party recipes are tasty and easy to make. You can make them yourself before the party or involve your guests in the fun.

If you choose a pumpkin theme for your party you will want to have Halloween party recipes that go with your theme.

Start with an exciting drink idea. You can hollow out a pumpkin and clean the inside well. Mix three 12 oz. cans of frozen orange juice with ten cups of ginger ale and place in the pumpkin. Add a half gallon of orange sherbet just before serving and stir. Yummy!

A great ice cream recipe involves really big oranges and a gallon of ice cream or sherbet. Make sure the oranges you buy are flat because they need to sit upright. Carve out the insides of the orange and draw a pumpkin face on one side. When the guests arrive fill the oranges with ice cream and let the guest add black jelly beans, candy corn or gumdrops.

Buy or make sugar cookies that look like pumpkins and decorate. This is also an activity your guests may enjoy. Provide orange frosting, licorice whips, sprinkles, mini M&M’s, etc. and let the fun begin.

A really easy main dish is pumpkin potpie. Purchase potpies or make them. Cut a pumpkin face on the top of each one and bake as directed.

You can also make or buy a frozen cheese pizza and decorate the top to resemble a pumpkin using black and green olives, pepperoni and mushrooms or peppers. Again, just decorate and bake.

If you need more Halloween party recipes check out books at the library and watch for Halloween magazines and cookbooks.
